Sport in Dubai tends to fall into three camps: There's doing it, watching it, and just being around it. Depending upon your inclination,
doing it can be a joy or a challenge - the climate naturally has an impact, and can make the experience more or less of treat according to your motivation and tastes.
For some sports, the facilities are naturally present: a fresh onshore breeze and the sailors will talk of little better, the divers relish the warm clear waters and fishermen (it is a sport, you know!) will be up at strange hours to do their thing. Of course there are also the manufactured facilities to allow you to indulge a fantasy - play like Tiger or Nadal, drive the A1GP circuit, or ski a downhill course fresh from the beach.
Watching sport is increasingly an attraction, as world-class events take in the attractions of Dubai, with international tennis, golf, motor sport, power-boat and horse racing, rugby, cricket and football all available for the deckchair sportsperson.
And for some, of course, the social scene surrounding such events is even more fun than the action itself. Dubai excels in that department !
